About the service

We have been providing psychological services to the people of Wiltshire for the past 20 years and pioneered Primary Care Psychology services within the country. We offer a high quality service that includes traditional IAPT interventions and we continue to innovate to better meet the needs of our clients.

What the service provides

We offer a wide range of support through GP surgeries to anyone with common emotional and mental health difficulties, primarily those associated with anxiety and depression. The Wiltshire IAPT services range from self-help therapies, to psycho-educational courses and one-to-one support.
Our service is based on a Stepped-Care LIFT model. This means that we offer our services in a tiered approach where we recommend trying the most commonly helpful support first.

Who the service is for

Our service is available to anyone registered with a GP practice within Wiltshire, but outside of Swindon.

How to access the service

Our services are available for anyone over the age of 16 who is registered with a GP practice in Wiltshire. Appointments with a Psychology Practitioner can be arranged through calling the Wiltshire IAPT offices; for appointments in North Wiltshire call 01380 731335 or, for appointments in South Wiltshire call 01722 820267. We also run a wide range of psycho-educational courses where self-referral is available. Click here to view the courses that we run.

What are common mental health problems?

Around 1 in 4 people will experience some kind of mental health difficulty in their lives. Most commonly these are depression and some form of anxiety. Everyone will feel low from time to time and everyone has something that they feel anxious about, but it’s when these very normal emotional experiences have unhelpful effects on day-to-day life that they can be termed a common mental health problem.

How can talking therapies help me?

Many people go through periods of difficulty in their lives, which can leave them feeling

  • Stressed
  • Anxious
  • Depressed
  • Unable to cope

Our Psychology Practitioners are trained to help people understand more about these difficulties.

They can help to find ways of tackling or coping with them.

The people we see have a variety of life’s problems, for example:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety/panic
  • Obsessions
  • Anger difficulties

Although our main focus is on helping people cope with anxiety & depression we understand that this is often associated with other problems.

Who are we answerable to?

We aim to provide you with a high quality Service, which seeks to meet your needs.
